Mexican joy. El Abajeño Sur is a Mexican restaurant created in an area full of gardens, where plants play a very important role. The place is a central patio surrounded by terraces, which has cross ventilation and warm lighting that creates a pleasant atmosphere all day.
For this interior design project, a tile with special colors created for Abajeño was designed from the ground up. The concept is to show the traditions of Mexico, but to create a modern, cheerful and different place.
The materials used were adobe, brick and paint, as well as tile and wooden beams for the roofs. For the decoration, Mexican finishes and traditional Mexican craft objects were used, for example: a canvas embroidered by artisans from Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo or typical toys such as guitars and hand-painted ball bearings.
